Weave Files: Rihanna Half Shaved Inspired Quick Weave/Sew-In (Video Included)
So I got tired of my 22″ inches and decided it was time to cut it all off! NOT MY hair of course, but to go to a very cute and short pixie style. I was overcome with chills and almost broke into a cold sweat when I actually thought about not having hair at least touching my collar bone. I did some thinking and said … YES I want to be like Rih! And Voila…
Here she is. As promised from the Youtube video (at the end of this post) here’s an in depth write up on what I used and how I did it (if you can understand it ha!)!
What I used
- - 2 Stocking Caps
- -Salon Pro 30 sec bonding hair glue
- -3 Bundles of HairbyJustB Brazilian Wavy
- -1 Pack of Milky Way 27 Piece ( Beauty Supply Store)
- -1 Shower Cap
- -Mannequin head
- -blow dryer
How I did it
Prep: There was no way I was going to able to install the 27 piece on one side without a mannequin head. I’ve seen it done on Youtube and more power to those women who can actually do it with the cap on their head. I started by putting the stocking cap on my head. Then taking a white color crayon, I began to mark where my part was first, then the area around the part where the braid actually started (this area will become where you lay tracks for your invisible part).I then marked the edges of my hair line all the way around to the back. After I placed the showercap on the mannequin, I put the extra stocking cap and the marked stocking cap on top of that ( this is helpful to see the lines you just drew).
Laying Tracks: I began with the 27′s 1″inch pieces and used half of that and all of the 2″inch pieces laying them on the mannequin until i reached the designated stopping mark on the stocking cap. After the whole side was finished, I put the wig cap on my head and sewed in the Brazilian hair on the adjacent side. Once finished with both sides I then sewed down the sides of the stocking cap to my braids ( to ensure the cap wouldn’t go flying when I cut the part). After securing the stocking cap to my head, I then began to cut halfway up the line I designated for my part and followed these instructions to lay down my invisible part (NOTE: I did not split my 3″ inch 27 piece wefts but I did split the wefts on a lonely piece of Brazilian) .
Styling: I then flat ironed the Brazilian hair and used a 1.5″ inch barrel curling iron to curl the hair; periodically taking a hair shaving utensil to the hair to carve some layers in the hair. To finish I used my fingers to toss and loosen the curls a bit.
Above is the Rihanna half shaved inspired style after flat ironing.
And here’s the finished product!
